US Military Targeted a 'Large Plant' in Venezuela, Trump Stated Without Offering Specifics.

Ex-President Trump has claimed that American forces targeted a "large installation" in the South American country recently. But, the ex-leader did not specify the exact nature or site of the strike, and there has been no further clarification from his team.

Unspecific Comments Made In a Radio Show

"We just knocked out – I don't know if you saw – they have a major complex, where the vessels depart from. Two nights ago, we destroyed it. So we struck them with significant force," Trump reportedly informed GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Implications of a Verified Strike

If a US strike were to be confirmed, it would constitute the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon began a expansion of US strike forces in the region to interdict drug traffickers that the former administration alleges operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This initial mission of the military buildup has evolved into a blockade aimed at disrupting the country's crude oil shipments.

Online Footage and Official Claims

Trump has for weeks warned that US forces are prepared to escalate the operations by hitting targets inside Venezuela, a move that would in theory require legislative approval.

Online video circulated on social media on 24 December purportedly showed an detonation reportedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. But, the video or the facility has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team reportedly told a media outlet that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Current Military Posture

The Venezuelan government has issued no statement on the alleged strike the former president described. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela concerning it.

The buildup of American forces in the area – a stance some have referred to as a naval quarantine – marks the most expansive maritime enforcement action of the Trump era.

Officials have stopped short from describing the action as a blockade, but have stated that approximately 15,000 service members are deployed across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to uphold existing economic sanctions.
